Mrs. Patricia Smith

Mrs. Cherie Williams, RN
Mrs. Patricia Smith is a 28-year veteran teacher. She graduated valedictorian from Tamassee-Salem High School in 1981. Her first career was as a Medical Technologist at Oconee Memorial Hospital after completing a B.S. degree at Southern Wesleyan University in 1985. In 1988, she completed her teaching degree and began teaching biology and Life Science at Walhalla Middle and Tamassee-Salem Middle and High schools. After that first year, she became a fulltime science teacher at TSMSHS. Mrs. Smith was selected SDOC High School Teacher of the Year in 2004-2005 and completed her Master’s in Education at Southern Wesleyan University in 2007.
A career dream of hers was to combine her MT career and teaching career and teach at the Hamilton Career Center. That dream was realized in 2007 when she began teaching in the Health Science program at HCC. In 2011 she also became an adjunct teacher for VirtualSC.

Mrs. Smith and husband Gary live in Salem, in the Boones Creek area, on family farmland. Gary works for Duke Energy at Bad Creek as a Senior Engineering Technologist. They have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Working on and around their house and spending time with her family are the things she enjoys the most in her free time.

Mrs. Cherie Williams is originally from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, but has lived in South Carolina since 1992. She attended Nursing school at Illinois Wesleyan University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1979. She has worked as a Registered nurse for 37 years, in various hospitals, continuing to work at Oconee Memorial Hospital on a PRN or "as needed" basis. She began teaching Licensed Practical Nursing in 1995 at the Hamilton Career Center, until that program closed in 2007. She then started the Certified Nurse Aide program at HCC and also teaches Medical Terminology. She recently completed her 21st year teaching at HCC! Mrs. Williams is one of the HOSA Advisors at HCC, and is very active with Relay for Life of Oconee County, and Clemson United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Williams has 4 children and 2 grandsons, all who live in California! She and her husband, Chip, live in Pendleton, and frequently travel to California (San Diego, Pomona, LA and Hollywood) to visit the kids.
